What is Suzin L’s policy on donation requests?

As much as we would like to help everyone and honor all requests, Suzin L. Chocolatier receives numerous solicitations for donations annually.  Unfortunately our resources are limited and we cannot accommodate everyone. As a result, we prioritize and make donations to select organization that we often partner with, local charities, food pantries and churches. However, we consider all requests that are submitted to us.  Feel free to reach out to us at admin@suzinl.com with your request.  We will review and reply with 48 hours if we are able to contribute.

 

Do you offer factory tours?

As much as we would love taking people through our factory to see where all of the candy magic happens, we cannot provide tours due to safety and food safety standards.

 

What sweeteners do you use in your sugar-free confections? 

We use the following artificial sweeteners: Maltitol, Xylitol, Sorbitol, Sucralose.

 

Do you have a Rewards Program?

Yes!  We believe in rewarding our customers for their loyalty. We offer the Suzin L. Sweet Rewards Program. Every time you shop with us and spend $20 or more during that visit, you earn 1 stamp on your Rewards Card. When you accumulate 5 stamps you get one free pound of any item in our store.  The program costs nothing to join, it’s just our way of thanking you for supporting our business because we appreciate you! 

 

Does Suzin L. offer gift cards?

Yes! We offer gift cards at our Elyria and Amherst locations.  Unfortunately, we do not offer e-gift cards at this time. 

Wedding and Party Favors

How far in advance should I place my favor order?

We typically recommend 3-4 weeks prior to the event.  This allows us with ample time to order the packaging and coordinate with our production team.  We strongly encourage you to visit one of our stores Monday-Friday when placing a special event order. This gives us the opportunity to show you the various packaging options, candy options and provide you with expert recommendations if necessary. Our goal is to be able to give you exactly what you want for your special occasion! 

Safe Shopping at Suzin L.'s

As we continue to adjust to life amidst a pandemic, we must take measures to ensure your safety and the safety of our Suzin L. team.

 

Do I have to wear a face mask or practice social distancing when visiting Suzin L’s?

Masks or face coverings, which cover the nose, mouth and chin, are now required at both of our locations.  Additionally, we request that you respect the space of others and practice social distancing for the duration of your visit. 

 

Who is exempt from wearing face masks in-shop?

People who meet one or more of the following conditions are exempt from wearing a mask or face covering and will not be required to provide proof upon entering our shops:

  • Children under ten years of age

  • Persons with an underlying medical condition which inhibits their ability to wear a mask or face covering.

 

Do you offer curbside pickup at this time?

If you are uncomfortable entering our stores or are physically compromised, we would be more than happy to bring your order out to you.  You can call us at 1440-323-3372 or 1-877-530-6792 to place an order and arrange a convenient pick-up time.

Allergy Information

Do your confections contain dairy, eggs, peanuts, or tree nuts?

Yes. We are a facility that processes milk, egg, peanuts, tree nuts, soy and wheat. Our products are not recommended for those with severe allergies to these ingredients.

What type of fundraising options do you offer?

What is your return policy?

Your satisfaction is important to us. If for any reason you are not satisfied with the candy you purchased, please contact us and we will make it right. 

Chocolate Care

Where and how should I store my chocolates?
Great question! We take pride in making exceptional chocolates and we want to ensure that they remain intact so that your experience is a delicious one! The following are our suggestions. We do not recommend refrigerating chocolate. Simply keep your chocolate in a cool (60-70 degrees Fahrenheit is ideal), dry place away from direct sunlight for 3 to 6 months.  Avoid exposing chocolate to heat and water.  Heat and water are chocolate’s enemies! Chocolate will melt in the heat and form condensation in humid conditions. In addition, never store chocolate near items with a strong odor. Chocolate (unfortunately) loves to absorb odors. The result can be unpleasant.

 

What is the white film on my chocolate?

One of two things “sugar bloom” or “fat bloom”.

 

What is sugar bloom?

A condition affecting the surface of chocolate. The chocolate adopts a dull, tannish-white color. Only appearance is affected - not taste. It is caused by condensation of water vapor from air on the chocolate surface. The sugar in the chocolate dissolves in the water, then the water evaporates and the sugar crystals remain on the chocolate. 

 

What is fat bloom? 

A condition affecting the surface of chocolate. The appearance is similar to sugar bloom (dull, white), except it is shiny and feels greasy when touched. Taste is unaffected. It is caused by the migration of cocoa butter crystals to the surface and subsequent recrystallization. The "migration" is caused by fluctuations in temperatures.

Shipping & Tracking

When will my order ship out?

Once we receive your order, the candy is carefully hand-packed and shipped out within 1 - 2 business days. Orders placed on Friday, Saturday or Sunday may not ship until Monday.

 

Will I receive an order confirmation?

Yes, your confirmation should be emailed to you within the hour, or within 24 hours at most. If you don't see the confirmation in your inbox, please check your spam or junk folder. If you still haven't received it within 24 hours, please contact us at 877-530-6792.

 

Will I receive a shipping confirmation?

Yes. Your confirmation will contain a tracking number for USPS. If you don't see the confirmation in your inbox, please check your spam or junk folder. Check the status of your order on USPS website.

 

Can I place an order to be shipped to warm-weather parts of the country?
Yes!  We monitor the weather and suggest expedited shipping services when necessary to ensure the safe delivery of our chocolates.

 

Can I ship my order to an address outside of the US?

Absolutely!  We love seeing our confections shipped internationally. It makes the world a sweeter place!  For assistance, please call us at 440-323-3372 or 877-530-6792 so that we can verify the shipping destination and monitor the current weather conditions. 

Online Shopping

What forms of payment are accepted for online purchases?

For your convenience, we accept Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and Discover Cards for online purchases.

 

Can I place an order online and pick it up at one of your stores?

Absolutely. When checking out choose "Pick Up In Store" form the shipping options. Your order will be ready within 1-2 days to be picked up at our Elyria location. If you would like to have the order picked up at our Amherst store, please indicate so in the "Special Instructions" section of your order. An email will be sent when your order is ready for pick up.

How long will it take to process my online order?

I want to order chocolate covered strawberries to be shipped, but I don’t see them as an option.  Can I order them online?

Our strawberries are extremely perishable.  Expedited shipping, an insulated carton and an icepack are all necessary to preserve the berries during transit.  For these orders, we request that you contact us directly so that we can talk to you about your options and quote you a specific shipping fee. Product Questions

Are all of your products available online?

No. Our product selection does vary between our online store and our retail stores.  We do, however,  update our website regularly to reflect current seasonal items. If you’re looking for a specific candy that’s not available online, please reach out to us at 440-323-3372 or 877-530-6792.

 

When are your chocolate covered strawberries available?

Our customers love (and demand!) our chocolate covered strawberries. Therefore, we carry them year-round, not just at the holidays.  

 

How long do chocolate covered strawberries last?

We’re glad you asked! On average, they last 24 hours. However, they can last up 48 or 72 hours.  Unfortunately, we have no control over Mother Nature and sometimes her strawberries are firm when they mature and sometimes they tend to be softer when they mature.  That factor helps dictate their shelf-life. Regardless, the end product is always delicious but if you notice variations, that is the reason.

What makes Suzin L’s so amazingly good?

As a fourth-generation candy company, we practically have chocolate running through our veins! We are passionate about producing delicious, appealing chocolate and delivering a tasty experience, time and time again. For us, it all begins with using the finest ingredients.  We then combine them using time-honored techniques and recipes passed down from one generation to another for almost 100 years!
